Israel brings NATO up to speed on Iran threat
Israeli defense officials gave NATO a detailed briefing at the weekend regarding the advancing Iranian nuclear and missile threat and what it means for Europe.Israeli diplomats told Ha'aretz that the information was delivered in Brussels as part of a broader intelligence assessment connected to the proposed deployment of US missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republic. The Israeli briefing focused on Iran's efforts to develop, in tandem with its nuclear program, a ballistic missile with a range of 1,800 miles that would threaten parts of Europe. In related news, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Mohammed ElBaradei told the Los Angeles Times on Saturday that international diplomatic efforts led largely by Europe to convince Iran to halt its nuclear program have failed."We haven't really moved one inch toward addressing the issues," said ElBaradei. "I think so far the policy has been a failure."
