The future of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR),the Islamic Society of North America and the North American Islamic Trust, and other Islamic“charities”could depend upon the trial playing out right now in Texas.These unindicted co-conspirators could be the next to follow the Holy Land Foundation into a courtroom…if that organization is found guilty of providing material support to Hamas.Week one of the United States of America v. Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development trial is underway,as lawyers from the defense and prosecution attempt to settle on a jury.The trial,
located in the Federal Courthouse building in downtown Dallas,has stirred up a great deal of attention within counterterrorism circles but to the rest of the American public,it has only received a periodic mention in the back pages of the Metro and State section of the Dallas Morning News.
The stories that have appeared regarding this trial have been mixed.On one hand,there is mention of nervous jurors who state they do not believe they can remain impartial in a terrorism case due to fear.On the other,come media releases from the website of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR),stating that the entire trial is a farce and the only reason it has made it to trial is because of “pro-Israeli”and “Islamophobic”forces within the government. Perhaps CAIR is nervous that one of their chapter directors is once again sitting in federal court on terrorism charges....
