UNITED NATIONS-Secretary General Ban met today with President Ahmadinejad, as the Iranian leader told reporters that European people "love" his exhortation about the need to end the existence of one of the 192 members of the United Nations, Israel. In their meeting, Messrs. Ban and Ahmadinejad "discussed Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and the Iran nuclear issue," a U.N. spokeswoman, Marie Okabe, told The New York Sun. "Mr. Ban said that Iran needs to resolve its nuclear issue through dialogue and in a way consistent with all relevant Security Council resolutions on the issue."Secretary of State Rice and other Bush administration officials have said in the past that there is a host of issues that could be discussed between American and Iranian officials, but a high-level meeting could only occur after Iran obeys Security Council resolutions, and specifically the demand to suspend its enrichment of uranium ore."The enrichment of uranium" by Iran "continues, and the international condition for a dialogue with them is suspending it," Israel's foreign minister Tzipi Livni said today. "Israel is working to assure that the international community continues to insist on this condition even as there are those in the world who try to initiate other ideas."Messrs. Ban and Ahmadinejad are at Rome for an international conference on food shortages, which is taking place under the auspices of the U.N.-affiliated Food and Agriculture Organization. Among the dozens of heads of state who participated in the conference is Zimbabwe's dictator Robert Mugabe, whose critics say has single-handedly turned his country from a food manufacturer to a starving nation."The people of Europe have suffered the most harm from Zionists and today the costs of that falsified regime, whether political or economic, are on Europe's shoulders," Mr. Ahmadinejad said upon arriving in Rome. "People love what I say because they are trying to save themselves from the oppression of Zionists," he said.Mr. Ban's spokespersons were unable to say whether the secretary general brought up in today's meetings Mr. Ahmadinejad's consistent calls to erase Israel off the map. They noted however that Mr. Ban has consistently denounced such calls in past statements.PS:I wonder why in the world the UN continues inviting Ahmadinejad to anything, related with the civilized world???????
As in the days of Noah....
