LIAR,LIAR,PANTS ON FIRE:Hillary's sniper debacle no 'minor blip,' says commentator

Political commentator Carrie Lukas says Hillary Clinton's erroneous claim that she landed under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia as first lady in 1996 feeds into the notion that she is willing to say anything to get elected.CBS News has aired video footage that refutes Senator Clinton's account of that trip to Bosnia, accompanied by her daughter Chelsea. Clinton (D-New York) said last week: "There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base." However, there was no sniper fire as the Democratic presidential hopeful has claimed in numerous speeches. Clinton's campaign now says the senator merely "misspoke." (See video report from AP)[[[[[[[[[[But Carrie Lukas with the Independent Women's Forum (IWF) says Clinton's sniper misfire is not just a "minor blip," as the senator has suggested. It feeds into "an impression" that Lukas says people have about the Clinton campaign. "And that is that she'll say anything to get elected," she says. The episode highlights more than just Clinton's foggy memory, according to Lukas. "Everyone watching that video just cringed on behalf of candidate Clinton because it was obviously showing her caught in stretching the truth and attempting to make her experience seem more serious than it actually was," says Lukas. The IWF spokeswoman believes the former first lady's campaign is struggling right now. "They need a big moment-they need something that's going to really change the dynamic of this race," she suggests. "They need to make Barack Obama seem un-electable, while making Hillary Clinton seem very electable .... " But Lukas is unsure the senator's misstatement will result in much fallout. "A lot of people have already assumed that Senator Clinton is a bit of a traditional politician in overstating some things at times," she says. "So I don't think that changes this dynamic. But certainly it's not what the Clinton campaign wants at this moment." Lukas says although Clinton often touts her visits to 80 different countries, those trips as first lady were largely "ceremonial" and her campaign has overstated her foreign policy experience.]]]]]]]]]]
