Tibet:Skip Reincarnation Next Time,Dalai Lama Suggests
Visiting Japan, the Dalai Lama floated the idea of breaking centuries of Tibetan Buddhist tradition by appointing his successor or letting high-ranking monks elect the next spiritual leader, the newspaper Sankei Shimbun reported. Traditionally, after a spiritual leader’s death, a search for his reincarnation is carried out by monks. His comments followed recent orders by China that it must approve Tibet’s spiritual leaders. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/21/world/asia/21briefs-dalai.html?ex=1353301200&en=19c170454496cbb2&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
