Long-time meteorologist: Global warming almost reaching 'religious' status

A prominent meteorologist says many U.S. media outlets have joined forces with politicians to elevate supposed global warming to the point where it is "almost a religion.John Coleman is one of America's most outspoken critics of global warming. He has more than 54 years experience in the field of meteorology, and one of his career achievements includes founding the cable-based network The Weather Channel. But Coleman says after a year of running the network, investors forced him to leave. "The bad guys took it away from me," he says on the website for KUSI, the San Diego television station where he is the daily weathercaster. He says that since that time, The Weather Channel-along with other major media networks-has jumped on the global warming bandwagon."I can't name a significant television or media outlet of any kind that has not jumped on the bandwagon," he says. "That's why I say it's the biggest scam in history ... because the media [and] the politicians have joined the cabal of scientists and environmentalists and turned this into almost a religion."Coleman says that he does not see a significant future for The Weather Channel. He adds that after researching the science behind "global warming," he is convinced it is built on "a foundation of quicksand." In an earlier story, he refers to global warming as a "manufactured crisis."
