GAY AGENDA WATCH:Airline:Get discounts by cruising 'gay' pages

The only way for families to take advantage of some discounts being offered by airlines is to start cruising the "gay" websites, according to officials for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
As WND has reported, the company currently is offering a 10 percent discount on flights to New York for the holidays, but only if you obtain the tickets through the airline's "microsite" web page designated "gay travel." The page is not reachable from the airline's regular website and the discount does not show up anywhere unless you are perusing the ads designed for the homosexual community. The page originally read "Gay Travel," but that was changed to "New York City on Sale" at some point after WND's inquiry about the promotion.A spokeswoman for the airline, Amanda Bielawski, confirmed to WND that the discounts would be available to anyone who processes ticket purchases through the "gay" site.WND's report on the marketing ploy, which apparently is growing rapidly in the airline industry, with one airline even offering a special "gay" flight, generated outrage among consumers."After reading an article on WorldNetDaily about a 10 percent discount for those that use the designated 'gay' page, I decided to send my thoughts to Alaska Air/Horizon Air. Basically I exclaimed that their 'program' was an insult to decency and morality, and that while they did not stand to lose any business from me, I would inform as many as possible of their decadent ways," an assistant pastor at a Baptist Church told WND. "While I clicked on the wrong link and sent my comments to their Mileage Department, the response was very underwhelming," he wrote. "I apologize in advance for the blatant vulgarity. But it is in their words, and not mine."The response from Mileage.Plan@AlaskaAir said, "u a—hole," only the original e-mail wasn't sanitized.Bielawski confirmed the outreach to the homosexual community is just "one of the targeted marketing campaigns we conduct every year." She said other specials are offered to military families, seniors and others, and she confirmed those generally are offered through e-mails to people who have contacted the airline for one purpose or another in the past. For anyone to gain access to the discounts offered to homosexuals, they "would have to be aware of that microsite," she told WND. "Any of the offers that we make as part of our targeted marketing campaigns are open to all customers. Many of them are marketed to specific groups of people."Asked how travelers would know about such discounts, and unconnected websites, she said the WND article would be doing a pretty good job.But she also noted other airlines are doing similar promotions. "There are several of them out there. We are certainly not the first to offer this service," she said. "The ['gay'] site is designed to reach out to a group of customers who are frequent travelers."A homosexual advocacy group just weeks earlier had listed the best airlines for homosexuals, picking American, United, Southwest and others, but that ranking was more for the same-sex benefits and "diversity" training offered employees rather than passenger discounts.WND didn't get a response from several airlines, including American and United, to questions about special discounts for homosexuals, but did confirm American's "rainbow" webpage that offers "gay" travelers options. And Air New Zealand recently plunged into the "gay" market wholeheartedly, offering a "special themed flight" featuring "drag queens, pink cocktails" and other features. The flight from San Francisco was to the "Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras" in Sydney, Australia, according to the airline's marketing director."We are looking at tailoring the inseat entertainment and having gay-friendly movies and contests and different music and things like that," the director told Associated Press.A day earlier, Bryan Fischer, of the Idaho Values Alliance, offered his criticism of the behavior-oriented promotions."Alaska is basically imposing a 10 percent surcharge for these destinations on travelers who are sexually normal. It's certainly odd to see such blatant discrimination against heterosexuals from a company that claims to be all about equal treatment for everyone," Fischer said.Word of the discount came through an airline employee, who needed to remain anonymous because of concerns over retaliation. The employee reported the company had sent e-mails out announcing the "very soft launch" of the new promotion.Fischer noted,"The only way you could take advantage of this is to self-identify as a homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Otherwise you're out of luck." The actual program, he noted, doesn't demand a person be homosexual, but is set up so that only those deliberately looking for "gay" travel options would find it."It's always a mistake for a company to establish policies that normalize homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism, but to add insult to injury by penalizing straights in the process is inexcusable," he said.
