END TIMES WEATHER:First Hurricane of the East Pacific hurricane season.

HONOLULU-Forecasters downgraded Hurricane Cosme back to a tropical storm on Tuesday.It the first hurricane of the East Pacific hurricane season.The category 1 hurricane was located 1,500 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and gusts to 92 mph at 5 p.m. Monday.The current forecast from the National Hurricane Center in Miami has Cosme maintaining its strength through Tuesday morning, then weakening slowly after that. Cosme is forecast to move across 140 degrees west as a tropical storm on Wednesday.At that time, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu will take over monitoring responsibilities and issue forecasts on the system.Cosme, or whatever is left of the hurricane, should be near South Point on the Island of Hawaii,Friday night.Current forecasts predict the system to still be a tropical storm with maximum wind speeds around 45 mph at that time. If the forecast pans out, the windward side of the Big Island should experience heavy rain and tropical storm force winds Friday night into Saturday.Forecasters remind the public that track errors are great several days out and that much can change.A slight track deviation to the south would bring an increase in showers and trade wind speeds this weekend.A shift to the north of the islands would bring humid conditions with little to no rain.
