The clock rapidly ticks toward the November 2008 elections. Will the Church be ready? I’m doing my part to mobilize social conservatives, and I need your help.This week Ambassador Alan Keyes, Dr. Rick Scarborough, and I launched the first of 70 planned crusades in 70 cities, with a great turnout of 750 patriotic citizens and 50 local pastors in the small town of Lufkin, Texas. Congressman Louis Gohmert (R-TX) took the stage with us, and received a standing ovation for leading opposition on Capitol Hill against liberal “Hate Speech Crime” laws.“They will come after your sermon notes and punish pastors who preach against the sin of homosexuality, accusing them of inciting violence, if any ‘nut’ in the crowd later commits a crime.” he warned. So now I travel and testify about standing up for Jesus, enduring hunger-strike and court-martial, and winning a great victory when Congress rescinded the bad Navy prayer policies, restoring all chaplains’ rights to pray publicly “in Jesus name.”Ambassador Alan Keyes brought the house down as keynote speaker, detailing our nation’s rich Christian heritage, and warning that our republic cannot survive if we allow erosion of its Christian foundation. “Our founding fathers declared their faith to be the very cause of liberty,” he said, “and without Jesus Christ, we will literally become slaves to sin, and slaves to an ungodly, repressive government that restricts our God-given liberties and persecutes our faith.”Vision America President Dr. Rick Scarborough fired up the crowd to get out the vote, saying, “In 2004, social conservatives were the largest voting block, but in 2006, social conservatives stayed home, so we lost the Congress and key elections.
