Obama Sends Personal Message to Kyrgyzstan...

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan-President Barack Obama has sent a personal message to his Kyrgyzstan counterpart, officials said Thursday, as Washington tries to keep U.S. forces from being evicted from an important air base in the Central Asian nation. In his letter, Obama thanked President Kurmanbek Bakiyev for Kyrgyzstan's support of U.S.-led military operations in nearby Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz president's office said in a statement. The statement also quoted Obama as saying a delegation of senior U.S. officials will soon visit the poor former Soviet republic....

New Kyrgyzs Rulers Hail Russia,Aim to Shut US Base...

BISHKEK-Kyrgyzstan's self-proclaimed new leadership said on Thursday that Russia had helped to oust President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, and that they aimed to close a U.S. airbase that has irritated Moscow.Their comments set Wednesday's overthrow of Bakiyev, who fled the capital Bishkek as crowds stormed government buildings, firmly in the context of superpower rivalry in central Asia.No sooner had presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev signed an arms reduction pact in Prague as part of an effort to "reset" strained relations than a senior official in Medvedev's delegation urged Kyrgyzstan's new rulers to shut the base. The official, who declined to be named, noted that Bakiyev had not fulfilled a promise to shut the Manas airbase, which the United States uses to supply NATO troops in Afghanistan. He said there should be only one base in Kyrgyzstan -- a Russian one....

Kyrgyz president refuses to resign, heavy shooting reported in Bishek

Kyrgyz opposition says it will rule for 6 months

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan – Opposition leaders moved to consolidate their control over Kyrgyzstan after their victory in a bloody uprising, saying they would hold power for six months and assuring the U.S. it can keep a strategic air base here — at least for now. There were signs of instability, though, as deposed President Kurmanbek Bakiyev refused Thursday to relinquish power after the revolt, which left at least 75 people dead and hundreds wounded. As he spoke, gunfire broke out after nightfall in the capital, Bishkek; there were no reports of casualties Friday from the nighttime shooting.Roving bands of armed marauders trawled the streets of the capital overnight, despite warnings from the opposition leadership that looters would be shot. Newly appointed security officials warned they would use every means to restore calm...

Kyrgyzstan Revolt: Interim government takes control after bloody uprising in Bishkek

Kyrgyz president refuses to admit defeat or resign

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan – The president of Kyrgyzstan insisted Thursday that he is not admitting defeat and he will not resign despite a bloody uprising and the formation of an interim government by the opposition.Resistance from President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who has fled the northern capital of Bishkek for the south, could raise the prospect of continued instability in the impoverished Central Asian nation, home to both a U.S. air base key to the Afghan war and a Russian military facility. This mountainous former Soviet republic erupted Wednesday after angry protesters stormed government buildings in Bishkek and riot police fired straight into crowds, leaving dozens dead and hundreds wounded."I don't admit defeat in any way," Bakiyev said on the Ekho Moskvy radio station, but also recognized that "even though I am president, I don't have any real levers of power"...

Church: Norway bishop resigned in '09 over abuse

OSLO – A Catholic bishop in Norway who resigned last year did so after admitting he had molested a child about 20 years earlier, when he was a priest, church officials said Wednesday. The announcement came after a Norwegian newspaper pressed for an explanation for why Georg Mueller, a 58-year-old German, had stepped down unexpectedly as bishop in the western city of Trondheim in June 2009. At the time, Vatican and Norwegian church officials gave only vague reasons for Mueller's departure. It was the first case in the current wave of sexual abuse allegations — and accusations of cover-ups — against Catholic clergy in which a bishop stepped down after admitting to having molested minors. The revelation rocked the small Catholic community in Norway, a predominantly Lutheran country, and follows scandals in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark that are erupting after decades of abuse cases in the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland and other countries....

Vatican blasts anti-Catholic "hate" campaign

VATICAN CITY – The Vatican heatedly defended Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday, claiming accusations that he helped cover up the actions of pedophile priests are part of an anti-Catholic "hate" campaign targeting the pope for his opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage.
Vatican Radio broadcast comments by two senior cardinals explaining "the motive for these attacks" on the pope and the Vatican newspaper chipped in with spirited comments from another top cardinal."The pope defends life and the family, based on marriage between a man and a woman, in a world in which powerful lobbies would like to impose a completely different" agenda, Spanish Cardinal Julian Herranz, head of the disciplinary commission for Holy See officials, said on the radio.Herranz didn't identify the lobbies but "defense of life" is Vatican shorthand for anti-abortion efforts....

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's hard-line president on Wednesday ridiculed President Barack Obama's new nuclear strategy, which turns the U.S. focus away from the Cold War threats and instead aims to stop the spread of atomic weapons to rogue states or terrorists.Obama on Tuesday announced the new strategy, including a vow not to use nuclear weapons against countries that do not have them. Good Friday Passion play held in center of British capital draws thousands of onlookers

LONDON,UK-(ANS) -Roman soldiers dressed in authentic-styled armor of the 12th Legion, tramped through Trafalgar Square in the center of London on Good Friday afternoon, as the story of the Passion of Jesus was re-enacted by a cast of more than 100.
According to http://www.indcatholicnews.com/ , The Good Friday production by the Wintershall Estate theatre company, drew an estimated audience of up to 20,000 people, among them families, church groups and tourists, who, in spite of showery weather, crammed onto steps around the Square and the front of the National Gallery for both the dress rehearsal and main performance.
The Catholic website says some members of the audience were recruited in the crowd scenes. The drama, accompanied by a beautiful musical score, depicted some of the key events in the life of Jesus (played by actor Simon Hemingway)scenes of miracles, his entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, driving the shopkeepers from the Temple, the Last Supper, his betrayal and trial, death and Resurrection...

BIG BROTHER WATCH:"More Surveillance:Planes,Trains,Automobiles and Buses..."

Senator Joe Lieberman, in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, says that he is worried about the threat of domestic terrorism on public transportation systems:“Our government is working with state and local officials … both in ways that are visible and ways that are not visible, to raise our defenses on trains and subways and buses. But … non-aviation is the vulnerable part of our transportation system and we, frankly, need to give it more than we’re giving it now to protect the American people. I worry about this,” Lieberman said. We’ve already seen and experienced the effects of government intervention at airports, with many Americans opting out of flying altogether in order to avoid the hassles of TSA full body scans and gestapo-like interrogations. Whether the the security procedures at airports have made us safer is an oft debated topic, with those who oppose the stringent screening policies pointing to the recent Christmas Day bombing plot and senseless acts of humiliation and demoralization regularly carried out by TSA employees as failures of the current system....

Full-Body Airport Scanners May Not Have Thwarted Alleged Christmas Day Bomber, GAO Says

The Transportation Safety Administration has started installing full-body scanners purchased with stimulus funds in airports around the country, but the Government Accountability Office says those scanners might not have detected the underwear bomb that made it onto a flight to Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.
“While officials said AITs (Advanced Imaging Technology devices) performed as well as physical pat down in operational tests, it remains unclear whether the AIT would have detected the weapon used in the December 2009 incident based on the preliminary information GAO has received,” theGAO said in a recent report. That assessment from GAO’s March 17 report on the scanners seems to directly contradict one made by TSA Acting Administrator Gale Rossides last week. She suggested in comments made to CNN that the technology could thwart others like 23-year-old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who attempted to detonate a bomb sewn into his underpants on board Northwest Flight 253 in Detroit....

It is the difference between the Dark Age and the present age…but not for everyone. Much of Africa is in darkness. too. People who hate civilization and the humans who created it are welcome to live out in the wilderness or in some primitive backward country where they burn dung to cook their meals. If America doesn’t start building more coal-fired plants, nuclear plants, and other generators of electricity, we too shall live in darkness when the sun goes down. Michelle Obama: Kenya is Obama’s Home Country

Obama’s wife admits what many have long suspected — her husband’s home country is Kenya. Does this mean Obama was born in the African country as many have long suggested? Maybe. It should be enough to re-open the “birther” case against Obama. It won’t be, of course, because the establishment media controls the debate over the issue. Even so, the video clip below should be added to the case — that is so long as it remains posted on YouTube.

RCC WATCH:Abuse hotline set up by Catholic Church in Germany melts down on first day as 4,000 people phone in

An abuse hotline set up by the Catholic Church in Germany melted down on its first day of operation as more than 4,000 alleged victims of paedophile and violent priests called in to seek counselling and advice. The numbers were far more than the handful of therapists assigned to deal with them could cope with.In the end only 162 out of 4,459 callers were given advice before the system was shut down.Andreas Zimmer, head of the project in the Bishopric of Trier, admitted that he wasn't prepared for "that kind of an onslaught'.The hotline is the Church's attempt to win back trust in the face of an escalating abuse scandal that threatens the papacy of German-born Pontiff Benedict XVI in Rome.Earlier this week it was alleged that an ally of the Pope, Bishop Mixa, beat children - a charge he has subsequently denied...

Vatican's Easter Mass infused with defense of pope

VATICAN CITY – It was the Catholic calendar's holiest moment -- the Mass celebrating the resurrection of Christ. But with Pope Benedict XVI accused of failing to protect children from abusive priests, Easter Sunday also was a high-profile opportunity to play defense."Holy Father, on your side are the people of God," Cardinal Angelo Sodano told the pontiff, whom victims of clergy sexual abuse accuse of helping to shape and perpetuate a climate of cover-up. Sodano, dean of the College of Cardinals, dismissed those claims as "petty gossip."
The ringing tribute at the start of a Mass attended by tens of thousands in St. Peter's Square marked an unusual departure from the Vatican's Easter rituals, infusing the tradition-steeped religious ceremony with an air of a papal pep rally....

RCC WATCH:'Sin and Shame': Catholic Church Offers Easter Apologies

Easter became a festival of apology across the Christian world Sunday as church leaders issued mea culpas for grievous sins committed against children and God, The London Times reported.
The pope was one of the few who failed to refer at all to the crisis that is tarnishing the image of the Church worldwide -- and that has even embroiled the leader of the Anglican Communion, Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. In Ireland, Cardinal Sean Brady, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, acknowledged his own role in putting the reputation of the Church before justice for abused children, apologizing "with all my heart" but stopped short of the resignation that many believe is inevitable....
PS:Only one word if you are part of the Roman Catholic Church:GET OUT OF THERE ASAP,and run to Jesus...HE died to pay for your sins...don't be part of the Babylonian Church anymore...!Repent of your sins and be saved today!!!!Ain;t no purgatory...!It's only heaven and hell!!!The decision is yours!!!

Resurrection Real,according to some scientists...

REDLANDS - Pastor Greg Wallace of First Lutheran Church will preach an Easter message Sunday with full faith that a man from Galilee rose from the dead 2,000 years ago.
"As far as the physicality of the resurrection, as Christians that's a non-negotiable," Wallace said. "If the resurrection isn't real, then the whole basis (of Christianity) is a sham and not worth much more than platitudes."He may hear hallelujahs from what some would consider unlikely sources: scientists.
Frank Tipler, professor of mathematical physics at Tulane University in New Orleans and author of the book "The Physics of Christianity," maintains that belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a matter of faith founded on scientific fact. "Believe in the laws of physics and they will tell you Jesus rose from the dead," he said Thursday....

No room for Jesus at Easter Show...

The New South Wales Bible Society says its application to have a Jesus: All About Life stall at Sydney's Royal Easter Show has been knocked back for dubious reasons. The society's chief executive, Daniel Willis, says his staff were told in February there would be space available for the stall, and negotiations were under way about its size and location. But Mr Willis says the Royal Agricultural Society has now told him there is an unwritten policy to refuse exhibitions by religious or political groups at the show, which officially opens today.Mr Willis says he is disappointed that a stall focusing on the reason for Easter has been knocked back."It's run at a time when Christians across this country are reflecting on and remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus," he said."Here's one great event that's billed as a family event and something as significant as Christian input is excluded from that whole activity"...

Would you take pal to Easter worship if Jonas Brothers sang..?:Rick Warren megachurch has 2 'sold out' services thanks to famous group

There's an unsettling theme in recent religion news. It's not that U.S. Christians no longer celebrate Easter but that the evangelical spirit -- defined as a drive to share this "good news" -- seems to be waning. Christians, it would appear, are slacking on the job and their friends' and families'' souls are on the line, church leaders say.
A Christian Research firm, The Barna Group, has identified two key problems: First, many Christians are hazy on Jesus' resurrection. Second, even those who know this is the core message of Easter, largely don't share this faith with others.
Barna's survey of 1,000 adults in February found just 42% tied the meaning of Easter to Jesus' resurrection and only 2% called this day "the most important holiday of their faith." Of those who identified themselves as active churchgoers, less than a third (31%) said they would invite guests to Easter worship services this year.
Maybe it would help if the Jonas Brothers were headlining the worship singing.
That's the idea Rev. Rick Warren had for his California megachurch Saddleback and now its Easter celebrations Saturday night and Sunday morning at Angels Stadium are "sold out"...

Easter Eggs face Doughnut Push...:"They're round like the stone rolled away from Jesus' tomb"

DOUGHNUTS are a better symbol for Easter than the traditional egg, says a leading Tasmanian churchman.
The Anglican Dean of Hobart, Richard Humphrey, said he preferred the idea of the Easter doughnut over the traditional Easter egg.
"Eggs don't really have anything to do with Easter but you can attach some rich symbolism to a doughnut," he said.
"They're round like the stone that was rolled away from Jesus's tomb, the tomb was empty, just like the hole in the doughnut, they're shaped like a halo and the circle represents eternal life"...
