Holy Fire Miracle: Christians unite in Easter celebrations

Thousands of Orthodox celebrate holy fire ritual

JERUSALEM-The sound of drumbeats and hymns and light from thousands of candles and torches filled Christianity's most revered shrine Saturday as Orthodox faithful celebrated Easter Week's holy fire ritual.Orthodox Christians believe Jesus was crucified and buried at the site where the Church of the Holy Sepulcher now stands, and that a flame appears spontaneously from his tomb on the day before Easter to show he has not forgotten his followers.
Worshippers carrying torches or bundles of 33 tapers signifying the years of Jesus' life waited in excited anticipation as the Greek Orthodox Patriarch in the Holy Land, Theofilos III, removed his embossed gold-and-white mitre and descended with Greek Orthodox, Armenian and other Eastern rite clergy into the tomb....

Paid for by Our Land of Israel (also known as SOS-Israel), the ad depicts a rebuilt Jewish temple on the Temple Mount in place of the two mosques that now dominate the compound. Below the image are the words, "May the Temple be built swiftly in our days," taken from the daily Jewish prayer book....

OBAMA'S "ONE-GLOBAL-EASTER-FITS-ALL":Obama Sends Out Inclusive Easter Greeting

President Obama sent an Easter greeting Saturday that focused heavily on what people of all faiths have in common.(((sigh....)))
The president made it clear that his family will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday,(((Sure...I believe it...!!!))) but made an effort to extend a Passover greeting to Jewish families and to address Hindus, Muslims and people of no faiths in his holiday message.(((talk about trying to be politically correct and try not to offend other faiths and make excuses for Jesus Resurrection...I guess...))))
Most of his weekly address was focused on the dreams and goals that Americans, regardless of their faith, have in common. The president spoke about the dignity and security that comes with the ability to wok and support a person’s family, the value of health and the importance of education.
“All of us are striving to make a way in this world; to build a purposeful and fulfilling life in the fleeting time we have here,” Obama said. “A dignified life. A healthy life. A life, true to its potential. And a life that serves other.”
“These are aspirations that stretch back through the ages – aspirations at the heart of Judaism, at the heart of Christianity, at the heart of all the world’s great religions,”
the president added.
PS:You talk about a "Passover or Resurrection Killer"...well..here it is again...by the words of BHO...
What does his address have to do with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ...?Could please somebody let me know...????
No wonder some people believe he is the antichrist...

Israel Lifts Travel Ban on Palestinian Christians for Easter

Palestinian Christians can now visit Christian holy sites in Jerusalem during the Easter holiday, reported Israel’s ambassador to the United States after a Christian leader and two rabbis took issue with the travel restrictions. The Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon, general secretary of the National Council of Churches, said Ambassador Michael Oren called him Wednesday and said the travel ban had been lifted, allowing Palestinian Christians living in the West Bank access to Jerusalem.Oren reportedly said he had contacted Israeli officials about the travel restrictions and they assured him that Palestinian Christians can visit sacred sites for Easter. The ambassador also told NCC to notify him directly if there are incidents at check points with Palestinian Christians in which the orders are not followed. The call from Oren was in response to concerns conveyed by Kinnamon and two American rabbis over Israel’s increased security for Passover, which they said had inadvertently closed the border to Palestinian Christians who want to worship in the Holy City during Easter week.“I hope the Israeli government realizes that it is unacceptable to us that Christians be denied the right to worship in Jerusalem, especially Christians whose roots in the region go back to the time of Christ,” said Kinnamon on Tuesday....

Fla. Church to Pay Light Bills for Guests on Easter

A Jacksonville, Fla., church has a message for the community: Come hear the message of hope this Easter and get your light bill paid!In the run-up to Easter, The Bridge Church is reaching out to neighbors through road side signs, billboards, radio and television to communicate to the city that they care.
"During such difficult times in our city, we wanted to take the opportunity to give back," said Lead Pastor Charlie Campbell. "We want people to know during this Easter season that the light of God is amazing and free."
The church is currently taking registrations of people who desire to experience worship on Easter and have the chance to get their April JEA – the eighth largest community-owned electric utility in America – bill paid. Dozens have signed up so far.Local businesses have also been contacting the church requesting to sponsor the effort."We hope that in our small way, we are making a difference in our city and changing the conversation during Easter to focus on people and what God wants to do for them," said Campbell...
PS:It truly saddens me all the new"techniques"that churches have came up with to "bring people in".Mr.Campbell said in the statement above that "they want to change the conversation during Easter to focus on people and what God wants to do for them..."Well I think there lays the problem...the CHANGE part...but you know...we've been here in the US bombarded with the word CHANGE so much in these last years that I guess it got into some pastors heads too...
To focus on people is alright...BUT to focus on what GOD wants to do for them....?
EXCUSE ME....GOD ALREADY DID SOMETHING FOR US,that is the most important thing HE could have ever done for us that is to send HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON to die for OUR SINS,TO REDEEM US,giving us FORGIVING OF SINS AND SALVATION and that happenned 2000 years ago....!HELLOOOO...!!!!
GOD HAS ALREADY DONE SOMETHING FOR US...and believe me...that is much better to me than paying my electricity bill.
But there's where the problem lays...the REFOCUS on something other than the cross.I don't hear much of the ole fashioned fastin' and prayin' and evangelizing for souls anymore.Did you notice...?It's all this or that other IDEA on how to bring them in.IN the state the church--in general--is here in America(And please spare me the hate mail tellin' me that you congregation is not like that and all that...)NO WONDER pastors try to come up with IDEAS to bring them in...otherwise people don't even wanna be told about church....
Sad but true the testimony of the church outside the 4 walls of it is pretty bad: lukewarm christians, that live like the world, preachers askin' for money all the time to sustain their lavish lifestyles that are up to any Hollywood star,no much fruit of repentance at all in "new believers",a flood of new "doctrines" and "movements" that are plain heretic...no more preachin' about sin and hell anymore, the total relaxin of standards, from the music they listen to, to the way they dress and behave...no much difference with the world at all. There are even so called "christian discos"cause you know our youth DESERVE TO HAVE SOME FUN....Therefore there is no more power in the church. His Presence has left long time ago in many places...and they don't even know it...
Sorry to be this cruel, but it's the truth.
People are DRAWN BY THE SPIRIT....They may come for the goodies to church fo a season and what is worse...they may get a diluted message like HEY SAY THIS PRAYER and YOU ARE INNN...or Jesus loves you the way you are...!(You know what I mean...)and dont even EVER get truly saved at all and think they are and keep coming to church without a true experience of repentance and salvation. God knows churches are filled with people like that....DECEIVED people.
You wanna show your community you care for them...?here is an idea:
What about preaching the TRUTH to them about their condition, their sin and tell them about hell and repentance and ole' fashioned salvation....That there is already a solution for our sin, that there is freedom in JESUS,that there is salvation, healing, restoration, deliverance in HIM today....?
IF you are really concerned about your neighbours wouldn't you just tell them the TRUTH,without any CATCH....????
Just a thought for the coming Resurrection Day...:)
As in the days of Noah....

Easter at a megachurch in Corpus Christi, Texas, will look like the popular TV game show "The Price Is Right."Sixteen cars, 15 flat-screen televisions, furniture sets and other prizes are lined up at Bay Area Fellowship Church and ready to be claimed by anyone who attends the church's Easter services on Sunday.Though the church of some 7,000 weekly attendees has regularly flexed its creative muscles to draw the unchurched, the upcoming "Ultimate Giveaway" is like no other outreach it has ever attempted.Pastor Bil Cornelius, who made the game show analogy, admits it's a bit "outrageous."But he sees it as "an opportunity to share Christ with people who may never go to a church for any reason," he told The Christian Post. The prizes are worth over $2 million and are all donated items or sponsored by members of the church. Pastor Cornelius asked the congregation to give and to get their businesses involved for the bold effort. Bay Area members signed up to give cars, bikes, laptops, gym memberships and other gifts....

DECEPTION WATCH:Christian Leaders Celebrate Easter But Promote Atonement Deniers - Makes No Sense

The contemplative prayer movement and the new emerging spirituality continue to wreak havoc on the body of Christ and on the preaching of the Gospel to the lost. For eight years, Lighthouse Trails has shown through one report after the next the teachings by many that outright or indirectly deny the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ (the basic essence of the salvation for the believer). And yet today many Christian leaders, professors, and pastors continue to promote atonement deniers or those who resonate with them. And we say again, it makes no sense to celebrate Easter while promoting those who deny the atonement.
A case in point. Calvary Chapel teacher, Gayle Erwin, has his endorsement of The Shack on the back cover of the book and on The Shack website. Yet, Erwin continues addressing Calvary Chapel pastors (e.g. recently at the SW Calvary Chapel Pastors Conference with Greg Laurie and other Calvary Chapel pastors). But William Paul Young, author of The Shack has denied the biblical substitutionary atonement as we showed in John Lanagan's 2009 article, The Shack Author Rejects Biblical Substitutionary Atonement. Lanagan states, after listening to a radio interview with Young:
[T]he author of this bestselling book does not believe Christ was punished on the Cross by the Father for our sins. This is a central doctrine of our faith–that Jesus willingly took our place of punishment and that through His sacrifice we can have eternal life. (click here to read the transcript of the interview with William Paul Young)
Another case in point. Alan Jones, the Reverend at Grace Cathedral in San Fransisco, wrote a book called Reimagining Christianity. The book is filled with theology that negates essentials of the Christian faith. In that book he states:
The Church's fixation on the death of Jesus as the universal saving act must end, and the place of the cross must be reimagined in Christian faith. Why? Because of the cult of suffering and the vindictive God behind it.--Alan Jones1
Of the atonement, Jones also says: "Jesus' sacrifice was to appease an angry God. Penal substitution was the name of this vile doctrine."--Alan Jones, (Reimagining Christianity , p. 168) No one can argue that Brian McLaren's name on the back cover is an endorsement by McLaren on Jones' beliefs expressed in that book. In fact, McLaren, in his own words, calls the doctrine of hell and the Cross "false advertising" for God. But also on the back cover of Jones' book is Walter Brueggemann, who says that Jones' "vision of faith" and "ministry for the time to come" will be a "gift" for readers. For those who are not familiar with his name, Walter Brueggemann is one of the main editors for Richard Foster's Spiritual Formation Study Bible. Foster, a contemplative New Age sympathizer, is admired and even heralded by countless Christian leaders, teachers, ministries, and pastors around the globe. Two of those are Focus on the Family and Rick Warren. And yet, clearly Foster resonates with Brueggemann, or he wouldn't have him contribute to a Bible of all things. To resonate with Brueggemann is to resonate with someone who accepts the denial of the atonement. This is not guilt by association - this is guilt by promotion!....

Filipinos mark Good Friday with crucifixions

CUTUD, Philippines--More than a dozen Filipinos were nailed to crosses and others whipped their backs until they were bloody in a re-enactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. The Catholic Church disapproves of the annual ritual of devotion but says it cannot stop people in Asia's largest Roman Catholic country from being voluntarily nailed to a cross or flagellating themselves, only educate them that it isn't necessary. In the 55th year of the festival, Christ was played by local Ruben Inaje, who said he was being nailed to a cross for the 24th time, as thousands of locals and foreign tourists watched."When they put the nails in my palm, that's very painful," said the 49-year-old before his crucifixion. Nails are also driven through his feet....

Pilgrims fill St. Peter's Square for Good Friday service led by the pope

VATICAN CITY - Pilgrims and tourists flocked to the Vatican ahead of Good Friday ceremonies as the Catholic church defends itself against accusations that Pope Benedict XVI played a role in covering up sex abuse cases. The pope was scheduled to preside over a prayer service and listen to reflections from the papal household preacher in St. Peter's Basilica on Friday evening.Hours later, thousands of faithful Catholics, clutching candles and prayer books, were expected to gather at the Colosseum to see the pope at night during at the traditional Way of the Cross procession commemorating Christ's crucifixion....
