American Samoa braces for Tropical Cyclone Rene

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa - All schools were closed in American Samoa Friday and residents were stocking up on bottled water, flashlights and candles as Tropical Cyclone Rene churned toward the U.S. Pacific island territory.A hurricane warning was in effect for all islands of the territory starting early Friday morning. The National Weather Service said the storm was headed toward the less-populated Manu'a island, where it could bring winds of up to 75 mph by afternoon."Residents of Manu'a should start feeling the effects of the cyclone by daylight Friday morning, with strong winds," said NWS forecaster Carol Baqui in Pago Pago....
