Iran summons French envoy over violence

Iran's Foreign Ministry has summoned the French ambassador to protest the Sarkozy government's violent crackdown on demonstrators on Bastille Day. Ambassador Bernard Poletti was called upon to hear Tehran's protest over the conduct of French security officials toward "those who were protesting against President Sarkozy's policies that have created an unacceptable situation for France, which always claims to defend human rights."
