POLICE STATE WATCH:Pakistan's Sharif decries "police state"

LAHORE, Pakistan-Former Pakistani prime minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif said on Sunday the country had been turned into a police state."You have seen that the entire country has been turned into a police state. They have blocked all roads, they have used all sorts of unlawful tactics," Sharif told a throng of reporters gathered at the front step of his Lahore home.Hours earlier, Sharif's party and a police officer said authorities had ordered that he be detained at his home, though a government official denied that.
