Workers of the Dutch branch of the Israeli company Issta were surprised to discover Wednesday morning that the building's display windows had been spray-painted with anti-Israel graffiti. The employees said the slogans had been scrawled all across the display windows. The graffiti, which was in English, included a demand to withdraw from Gaza and swearwords against Israelis. The Amsterdam office is easily recognized as an Israeli one, as its logo – which includes its name in English and in Hebrew – is clearly displayed on the building's windows and signs.Although the workers spoke of "a very unpleasant feeling", they chose to open the office as usual. Local police were informed of the incident and reinforced their patrols around the building. Issta,
Israel's biggest travel agency, has a number of branches abroad. The office is located in Amsterdam's city center and employs six workers – an Israeli manager and five Dutch employees. Ever since Israel launched its Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip three weeks ago, many anti-Israeli rallies have taken place across the world and a rise in anti-Semitic acts has been recorded in different countries. In France, at least
55 anti-Semitic incidents have taken place since the start of the operation. The organizers of the annual
Israeli tourism fair which opened in Paris on Thursday were forced to hold the event in a limited format due to threats by anti-Israel elements and after the management of the hotel scheduled to host the fair expressed its fear that the building would be damaged by protestors.
