
PYONGYANG-North Korea on Wednesday began taking its first census since January 1994, which is also the second ever to be held in the country.Tens of thousands of examiners will carry out the survey until Oct. 15 under cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, authorities said.According to the 2007 almanac published by North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency, the country's population was 23,612,000 as of 2004.
