Massive Wall Of Dust Swallows Valley

PHOENIX-A 50-mile long wall of dust swallowed the Valley in one of the biggest dust storms in years. A dust storm warning is in effect until 7 p.m.The dust storm developed west of the Valley late Thursday afternoon and is expected to move to the northeast through the Phoenix metro area through 7 pm.Expect reduced visibilities below 1/4 mile, first arriving across the west Valley, south Phoenix and Chandler.A dust storm warning is issued when winds have generated large areas of blowing dust or blowing sand that have substantially reduced visibilities to 1/4 mile or less, resulting in hazardous driving conditions in some areas.Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero.
