Iran:Israel not welcomed by Muslims

Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says the Israeli regime is not welcomed by regional states as well as the international community. "Today, even the American and European governments have realized that supporting the regime puts their national interests in jeopardy," President Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with former Lebanese premier Omar Karami. He added that 'resistance' and 'political attacks' are the approaches that will pave the way for victory over Israel which pursues the policy of threat, terror and aggression to dominate Muslim states in the region. President Ahmadinejad added that the Lebanese nation's unity and resistance led to their victory over Israel in the 33-day war. In the summer of 2006, Israel waged a 33-day war on Lebanon to destroy the military power of Hezbollah. The invasion killed more than 1,200 Lebanese including a large number of women and children and 160 Israelis, mostly troops. The offensive failed to achieve its goals, and is considered as a heavy defeat for the regime. Karami for his part said that Israel seeks to secure US interests in the region and implement Washington's regional policies. "Despite the stance adopted by certain Arab countries toward Israel, the majority of Muslims are against the Israeli regime," he concluded. The former Lebanese premier, Omar Karami, who is in Tehran for an official visit met with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki earlier on Tuesday.
