Gazan rocket lands in Israel, no one hurt: army

JERUSALEM-A rocket fired from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip landed in southern Israel on Wednesday, causing no injuries or damage, Israel's military said.There have been several rocket launches from the coastal territory since an Egyptian-brokered truce between Israel and Hamas went into effect on June 19, though such attacks tapered off in recent weeks.Israel responded to previous attacks by reclosing border crossings with the enclave.An Israeli military spokeswoman said the rocket struck just beyond Erez, a terminal on Gaza's northern border with Israel.There was no immediate claim of responsibility from armed Palestinian factions in Gaza.The truce calls on Gazan militants to halt rocket attacks in return for Israel gradually easing an embargo on the territory. The Jewish state tightened its cordon on Gaza after Hamas Islamists took control of the territory a year ago.
