Do You CEDAW What I CEDAW?

The United Nations (U.N.) is once again trying to force abortion on its member countries, this time using the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), a radical U.N. document that seeks to redefine family and globally legalize abortion on demand in the countries that sign onto it. This week, the U.N. Committee for CEDAW issued a report demanding that Britain force Northern Ireland to allow for unrestricted abortion. The study suggests that Northern Ireland's current policy was having a "detrimental effect on woman's health." However, Northern Ireland actually has the lowest rate of maternal mortality in the United Kingdom. President Jimmy Carter signed CEDAW in 1980 and it took 14 years for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to pass it to the floor. Shortly after the committee vote, the GOP regained the majority. Since then, the full Senate has refused to even bring it up for a vote. That could easily change in the next Congress, so it is vitally important that both presidential candidates explain their position on objectionable international treaties that erode U.S. sovereignty such as The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming), the Convention on Biological Diversity, and CEDAW.
