Concern over Wikipedia's 'how-to' section on suicide

Wikipedia, the online public-input encyclopedia, now has a how-to section on suicide and mutilation.Rita Marker of the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide says the news is really nothing new. "And in fact in some countries there have been attempts to stop this from being provided in their countries. It hasn't been successful," she adds. "But there are the ghoulish who have done this, and it's flown under the radar for a very long time."In the U.S., very little can be done about the site, Marker continues, because of constitutionally protected free-speech rights. "Unfortunately it's the sort of thing like the other how-to books: how to be an assassin, how to build your own nuclear bomb, how to do this, how to do that," she notes. According to a WorldNetDaily article, Wikipedia also links to suicide strategy books. And a spokesperson for Wikipedia stated they would not censor any objectionable material.A bill has been submitted before Congress (H.R. 940) that would deal with those who intentionally promote suicide, such as through chat rooms, but so far it has not moved forward.
