Iranian state television reports the Revolutionary Guards have tested nine new long- and medium-range missiles during war games. The tests come one day after the Iran's president said there is no chance of war with the United States or Israel. The Pentagon is studying intelligence on Iran's latest missile test to figure out exactly what was launched and what it can learn about Tehran's missile capabilities. The White House is calling on Iran to refrain from any more tests. And U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday the tests are more evidence that the world needs the U.S. missile defense system. But Defense Department officials speaking on condition of anonymity say it will be unclear how significant the test was until it is analyzed. Defense officials say U.S. tracking systems detected seven missile launches. Pentagon intelligence assesses that the launches were part of what it calls "troop training," similar to exercises Iran held twice in 2006.
