I have a few reactions:First, Obama told the audience that he’s not vising their country as a Presidential candidate. Who is this clown trying to kid?
Second, Obama told the audience that America doesn’t stand for torture, racism against illegal immigrants, etc.Is it just me or does that come off as him running down his own country in front of a foreign audience?What’s more, to suggest that stopping illegal immigration is the same as denying entry to people based on their race or religion is just plain wrong.Our country currently lets in immigrants from all over the world, regardless of skin color or religion.What we’re trying to stop is illegal immigration.So Obama was not only running down America to a European audience he was being terribly dishonest when he did so.
I agree with Obama’s people that we need a leader who will improve relations with the rest of the world (Bush hasn’t been as bad as the lefties suggest, but he hasn’t been great either), but I don’t want a leader who endears himself to foreigners at the expense of his own country’s reputation.
Overall, this was a typical Obama speech. Lots of flashy rhetoric, very little substance.
