AUGUSTA, Maine - An evangelical group has abandoned its campaign to overturn Maine's law prohibiting discrimination against homosexuals.Executive Director Michael Heath says the Christian Civic League of Maine failed to attract the voter, volunteer and financial support it needed to continue its campaign. He says homosexual rights groups succeeded by linking support for the proposal to "bigotry and homophobia and hatred."In addition to repealing the anti-discrimination law, the proposal would have reaffirmed Maine's law restricting marriage to one man and one woman and would have barred towns from licensing civil unions.As in the days of Noah....
