GAY WATCH:Little by little: Ted Kennedy continues to push for homosexual cause

Pro-family activist Matt Barber says some Democrats in Congress are grudgingly accepting the reality that Americans still aren't ready to accept the "insanity" of laws granting special protections to people who are confused about their gender.Senator Ted Kennedy tells Associated Press he expects an uphill battle in his quest to get 60 Senate votes in favor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, otherwise known as ENDA. The bill, which passed the House last November, would ban alleged "workplace discrimination" against individuals based on their sexual orientation. Oddly, the liberal senator has drawn fire from transsexuals and cross-dressers for not including additional special protections in the bill for people based on their "gender identity and expression."Senator Kennedy (D-Massachusetts) says those transgender protections may be approved next year if the Democrats gain more seats in Congress and take back the White House. Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues at Concerned Women for America, says he never thought he would see Kennedy angering the transgender lobby but is thankful he has for the moment. "Apparently Ted Kennedy is at least smart enough to recognize that most Americans are still not ready for women to be forced to share public restrooms, locker rooms, and shower facilities with gender-confused men who like to wear dresses," Barber points out. Barber says Kennedy is not being overly optimistic but will continue to fight for the homosexual cause. "If we have a liberal-controlled White House, Senate, and House, there is a good possibility that this could become a reality. And I think Ted Kennedy's position here really represents the larger homosexual lobby's strategy for the past several decades, and that is to gain these special rights and privileges and to foist their agenda on the rest of America incrementally," Barber contends. Transgender activists plan to hold a rally April 15 in front of the Capitol and demand "gender identity and expression" protections in the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
