A number of well-known ministries and other Christians will gather today for a national day of prayer hosted by ReignDown USA.ReignDown USA is calling Christians of all denominations across America to come together for a day of prayer and repentance, lifting up the country to God. The worldwide event will culminate in a live broadcast on GOD TV from the National Mall in Washington, DC. Christian musician Michael W. Smith will lead worship for the four-hour event, being shown from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Eastern) throughout the U.S. and to billions of people internationally. Lutheran minister Walt Kallestad and his daughter Shawn-Marie Cole head up ReignDown USA. According to a Christian NewsWire press release, the organization is composed of believers who desire for Christians in every state to "humbly seek God's presence and forgiveness so that his mercy would reign free across the nation, bringing healing and restoration." Marie-Cole says she received a vision from God calling Christians to rally together and to ask God to show mercy to this nation. She claims 2 Chronicles 7:14 for reference: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land (NIV)." Kallestad believes the U.S. is desperate for God's intervention. "We've witnessed firsthand the threat of terrorism, natural disaster, broken marriages, moral depletion, denominational division and denying Christ as the center of everything we do. The time has come to repent and put God back in the center of our lives, our relationships and our nation," he contends. Among thousands of Christians attending the live event will be numerous ministries including Prayer Watch International, the Presidential Prayer Team, the Congressional Prayer Caucus, and the Awakening America Alliance. Cindy Jacobs of Generals International and Lou Engle of TheCall will lead prayers on the broadcast. ReignDown USA is calling America's Christians to pray for their nation's current and future presidents, Congressional and Senate leaders, Supreme Court judges, state and city government employees, ministers, teachers, and a number of other influential people in our local communities. Finally, they ask that Christians pray for reconciliation and unity with one another. Wendy Alec, co-founder of GOD TV, says her ministry is dedicated to praying for revival in America. "There is enough power in the Church today to change the destinies of our nations, and so we encourage viewers across the world to tune in to ReignDown USA as we humble ourselves and pray together corporately," Alec contends. She believes Christian unity through prayer will bring great positive change in our nation.
