The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano published a column that said this year's Oscar awards went to films that portray America as a society "without hope." The column by Gaetano Vallini ctiticized films such as No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, which among other Oscar nominees are "sinister, filled with violence, and above all, without hope,"he said.Vallini found fault especially with No Country for Old Men, saying the film, which garnered 4 Oscars including the coveted "Best Picture" award, was marred by "absurd and mindless acts of violence. "While praising the craftsmanship, he said the picture showed a "lack of moral conscience." The message of the movie, he said, seemed to "obliterate the American dream." Catholic World News reported Tuesday.Worse, Vallini continued,"this clearly pessimistic view that the United States offers of itself through movies" was confirmed by the Oscar awards, in which the film industry honored the pictures that offered this grim vision.He pointed that the independent filmmakers, working outside Hollywood, chose to honor movies with a more positive message, such as Juno, the story of a young woman coping with an unexpected pregnancy.He also praised The Diving Bell and the Butterfly as a film that, "going against the prevailing trend, portrays the beauty of life."PS:What Gaetano Vallini wrote in his column is true...but ONLY IN PART....

Its true HOLLYWOOD has exported trash for many,many years all over the world....BUT There is a HOPE ....!!!!(And it's not Obama.....)The name of Hope is JESUSCHRIST....and Of course Mr.Vallini doesnt know that many,many are getting saved in the film industry and INN Hollywood....Praise the Lord for that!
One thing is for sure....America HAS A HOPE and the HOPE is JESUS and many are embracing Him today....
One other thing is sure.....the HOPE will never come from the Vatican....how could a blind guide another blind.....?????
But they are surely good to point out the sins of others,like they are a "Moral Authority" to rule above the affairs of all men....
