BLASPHEMY WATCH:Controversial statue of Jesus with an erection offends gallery visitors

A gallery has offended the church by exhibiting a statue of Jesus with an erection. The graphic figure is on display at Gateshead's Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art(picture left). The exhibit is a traditional form of Jesus which has been doctored by controversial Chinese artist Terence Koh. Gone, Yet Still, features 74 plaster models ranging from Mickey Mouse to ET, with the 1ft high depiction of Christ with an erection a central figure in the artwork.Outraged visitors and church leaders have criticised the artist and Baltic bosses for disrespecting the Christian faith.Dad-of-two John Monaghan, 33, of Heaton, Newcastle, said: "I feel this sculpture is overstepping the mark with regards to respect.[[[[[["If other religious characters were portrayed in this way, Mohammed for example, there would be riots. It should be withdrawn immediately."]]]]]]Assistant priest at St Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Newcastle, the Rev Christopher Warren, branded the statue offensive."For Christians the image of Jesus is very special and to interpret it in a sexualised way is an affront to what we hold dear," he said."While Jesus was a human being in every way, to portray him in this way will offend."The statue is part of the Zabludowicz Collection, owned by Newcastle-born collector Anita Zabludowicz. She studied fine art and history at Newcastle's College of Arts and Technology before spending 10 years as an interior designer.Koh, 30, was born in Beijing but raised in Vancouver, Canada, and lives in New York.He became known as 'Asian punk boy' due to his subject matter which focuses on punk and pornographic themes.Koh's work has been exhibited internationally, including London's Saatchi Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts. This is not the first time the Baltic has hit trouble over an exhibit. In September, police seized the image of a child due to be displayed in the gallery over fears it was pornographic. Officers were called by the centre's bosses after they expressed concerns over exhibiting the work of art that belonged to pop star Sir Elton John, who later pulled the display.Crown Prosecution Service lawyers examined the photograph - Klara and Edda Belly Dancing 1998 by American artist Nan Goldin but did not class it as indecent.A spokesman for the Baltic said that all exhibits of a graphic nature come with a public advisory notice both in guides and in the gallery space. The exhibition is due to run at Baltic until January 20.
PS:Since Mr Koh,seems to be a rather "sicko" type of individual,it wouldn't surprise us that he made a statue of this sort...Much of what we call ART today has been prostituted and twisted by the enemy.....How much we need to "redeem art" thru "redeemed artists"....!!!!!
This exhibition like much of his "art" is a bunch of trash....Not worthy of paying a ticket...unless of course you are as sick as the artist.....
Mr Koh,has to thank God that christians are NOT MUSLIMS,cause his head would have been already severed from his body and they would have already also burnt the place down+ the city riots.....

As in the days of Noah....
