The Palestinian for the Liberation of Palestinian, the PLO’s second largest group after Fatah, hijacked its first plane, an El Al flight from Rome to Tel Aviv, in 1968. Two years later, it carried out its spectacular three-plane hijack to Jordan. Like Hamas, this Christian left-wing radical, a rival of Yasser Arafat, opposed peace deals with Israel and firmly believed there could be no peace until Israel was destroyed.
