3rd Bhutto video adds fuel to doubts:Musharraf critics tie assassin's pistol to Pakistani army

Mounting video evidence in the probe of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto has forced the Pakistani government to back away from its official theory of her death and ask Scotland Yard to investigate, while critics tie the murder weapon to the army's Special Services Group. Yesterday, a third video of the assassination surfaced showing Bhutto had dropped into the SUV before the suicide bomb exploded, backing the argument she was killed by pistol shots, contradicting the government's official explanation.Reports are also circulating that a black 9 mm hand gun recovered at the scene of the assassination is now in the custody of the Pakistani police. The handgun, which appears to match the one seen in the first two videos, has been identified as a Steyr M 9X19 mm, a weapon used by the Pakistani army Special Services Group. The new video of the Bhutto assassination was released by the Pakistani TV station Dawn News and is being shown on the "Observers" site of France 24. According to France 24, the video was taken with a mobile phone by an "amateur guard," a person positioned on the right of the SUV, in front of Bhutto, acting as a human shield between her and the surrounding crowd. The sequence clearly shows Bhutto standing through the SUV's sun roof.As she takes what appears to be a tissue and wipes her face, she suddenly drops through the sun roof, followed immediately by the bright flash of the suicide bomb exploding. The government's official theory, that the concussion of the suicide bomb threw Bhutto fatally against the sun roof's lever, appears disproved by the cell phone video showing the former prime minister had fallen before the suicide bomb exploded. This third cell phone video corresponds with a video previously released by Channel 4 in Islamabad. As WND reported, the Channel 4 video, taken from a perspective behind Bhutto's SUV, shows the back of Bhutto's head veil being lifted and her hair rising out of place as a clean-shaven shooter in a coat and tie fires three pistol shots from the left of her at point blank range.Close analysis of the Channel 4 video also indicates Bhutto fell back into the SUV immediately after the pistol shots but before the suicide bomb went off. Amid the controversy generated by the videos, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, in a televised speech Wednesday, asked Britain's Scotland Yard to investigate the assassination. In response, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown agreed to send a team of five investigators from Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism division to Pakistan. The Pakistani government has published two photos, one showing the shooter from the Channel 4 video and the second showing the severed head of the person suspected as being the suicide bomber. The Channel 4 video provides visual confirmation of the first video released of the assassination released video, which showed a gunman firing three shots at Bhutto from the left of the SUV.As WND reported, Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of the murdered former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto has charged the Musharraf government with a cover-up, suggesting the responsibility for the assassination may rest with Musharraf himself, with the actual murder possibly carried out by the military or the feared secret police Inter Services Intelligence Agency, the ISI.
