Godman will be viewed by millions

India-Hindu extremists have been attacking Christians in India more than ever before. Some statistics indicate there is an attack on a Christian almost every other day. However, Christians are moving forward with a showing of the Godman on Indian television over the Christmas holiday.Book of Hope International's India Directors Joel and Karen Hayes describes the outreach. "Over the Christmas weekend we are actually going to be broadcasting The Godman to over a billion people in India, parts of Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Butan, and Sri Lanka. So it's a tremendous opportunity."The Godman is the state-of-the-art 3D animated film on the life of Christ, contextualized for the Indian culture. It made its debut over Easter, says Joel. He says this will be a much larger scale. "There's 70 different stations that we will be on at Christmas, and I think at Easter it was a few dozen, or a few more than that."While broadcasting The Godman film is great, Joel says the local church is intimately involved. "We also have 42,000 partner churches who are bringing 500,000 Christian families that will help by opening their homes for people to come and view the showing."Karen says each family will invite 10 people to watch the telecast. "Then they'll get an opportunity to talk about it afterward. And, each of those people that come into a believer's home is also going to be handed a copy of the Book of Hope."While there is hardly a week in which Christian evangelists, pastors or missionaries aren't attacked by Hindu extremists, Joel says since Christmas is a Christian holiday, they're given more freedom. "It does allow for some events such as this to take place without some of the same repercussions that may come otherwise. Not only that, it opens up some of the national television networks that we might not be able to get time on."Last minute training is underway for the telecasts that will begin airing December 24 and will continue through December 26. It's believed that five million Books of Hope will be handed out over the three days.According to Joel, not only will people be amazed by the story, but they'll come to Christ. He's praying that "the local body, the church, will envelop them with a discipleship effort that will help them grow in their new life."

As in the days of Noah...
