The Rwandan Genocide? Who cares...
Kigalli, Rwanda (EUX.TV) -Has the world learned from the Rwandan genocide in 1994? As the meeting of parlementarians from Africa, the Carribean, the Pacific and the European Union gets underway here in Kigali, a new crisis is developing in the eastern Congo province of North Kivu, just a few hours away by car.Aid workers claim this North Kivu crisis is worse than the situation in Darfur.More than 150,000 people have fled just in the last two months, attemping to escape fighting between the militia of Tutsi general Laurent Nkunda, Rwandan Hutu's and Congolese government troops. Some half a million now have fled in total, on a population of about 4 million people.EUX.TV is on the ground in Kigali between Nov. 17 and Nov. 23. The coming days, EUX.TV will bring interviews and reports from the Kigali conference, and a special report on how Rwanda is dealing with the aftermath of its genocide in which between 600,000 and one million people where killed in 1994.The crisis in Darfur, in eastern Congo, access to cheap medicines in developing countries and the aftermath of the 1994 Rwanda genocide are among the items to be discussed.EUX.TV has already created a special YouTube playlist titled "Has the world learned from the Rwandan genocide?".
