Georgia's Governor Prays for Rain:Asks residents to seek Divine relief from the drought.

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will host a prayer service on Tuesday to ask God to provide relief from extreme drought.Perdue, a devout Baptist, has tried lots of policy options, but his spokesman, Bert Brantley, said the governor believes the prayer meeting will yield results. In fact, an earlier prayer meeting brought the clouds.“We did actually get a period of rain after the Farm Bureau event in Macon early this year," he told Family News in Focus, "which was certainly very needed at that time.”H.B. London, vice president of church and clergy at Focus on the Family, knows Perdue and has no doubt his faith will prevail.“When you need rain and you need it as desperately as they do, you’ll turn to God,” he said. The prayer service is scheduled to take place outside the Georgia Capitol-depending on the weather.“If we are blessed with rain," Brantley said, "we will very faithfully move that service inside.”
