NAZI REVIVAL WATCH:Swastikas sprayed in Bnei Brak succa

Police in Bnei Brak found swastikas spray-painted inside the succa of one of the town's synagogues Tuesday afternoon. Alongside the swastikas were the words "Heil Hitler." It was the latest in a string of anti-Semitic offences which have been reported recently across the country.Earlier Tuesday, vandals sprayed swastikas and malicious graffiti on the Taiba Municipality walls against the city's newly-appointed mayor Shlomo Tuizer, Israel Radio reported.Tuizer was appointed three months ago and hasn't been able to solve the city's financial debts, which prevent it from paying its 400 employees. The employees have not been paid for over two years."The municipality has debts of over a quarter of a billion shekels, and it does not collect Arnona payments because of the lack of computer services," Tuizer said.Tuizer added that he would fire over half of the municipality's employees after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, in an attempt to solve the financial crisis. The incident was apparently prompted by the municipality's debts. On Sunday, a 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a succa in Haifa. The succa, located near a synagogue in Neve David, was set alight on Saturday night, and several siddurim were hurled out, some of which had been defaced with swastikas and abusive graffiti. During his interrogation, the 19-year-old admitted to the aforementioned allegations. The 19-year-old also confessed to recently etching swastikas into two vehicles and assaulting a 75-year-old Holocaust survivor, who had claimed that that her attacker shouted "Heil Hitler" at her.Two weeks ago, the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office revealed a lengthy charge sheet against alleged members of a neo-Nazi gang operating in the Petah Tikva area. The indictment sheet presented by prosecutor Ilan Shadi included offenses such as aggravated assault on the basis of racism, as well as owning and distributing racist literature and incitement. Alleged gang leader Arik "Eli the Nazi" Boanayev, 20, faces additional charges including carrying out threats and assault leading to injury. At least one other alleged group member is facing charges of illegal weapons possession, including firearms and explosives recovered by police. Also, in August, swastikas were spray painted on the floor of a synagogue in the city.
