Rabbis forbid Jews to attend Christian Feast of Tabernacles celebration

Israel's Chief Rabbinate has ratified a ruling forbidding Jews from attending the upcoming Feast of Tabernacles celebration put on by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. The Chief Rabbinate's Committee for the Prevention of Missionary Work in the Holy Land made the decision last month, though it was only officially approved by Israel's two chief rabbis this week.In the decision, the Chief Rabbinate welcomes the thousands of Christians who will participate in the event to the Holy Land and thanks them for their support. The ruling goes on, however, to ban Jews from the Feast of Tabernacles, claiming that “the information we have states that some of the bodies gathering there are active in attempting to convert us from our faith.”Earlier this year, a rabbinical court acting on purported evidence provided by an anti-missionary organization forbid future cooperation between Christians and Jews in areas of social assistance. Such organizations insist the ICEJ and other Christian Zionist ministries operating in Israel have as their ultimate goal the conversion of all Jews to Christianity.
