The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is asking an Elmira, N.Y., city court to dismiss disorderly conduct charges against four Christians arrested in June for praying during Southern Tier Pride, a homosexual event that included female impersonators, a balloon launch and poem readings.The four “got down on their knees and they prayed silently,” Brian Raum, senior counsel for ADF told Family News in Focus. “And while they were doing this, the Elmira police came and handcuffed them and hauled them off to jail. What this situation demonstrates is that the homosexual agenda is not satisfied with pushing their agenda, but their real intention is to silence anyone of faith who would simply pray during an event.”Stephen Hayford with the Coalition to Save Marriage in New York said it’s a sad day when Christians can’t pray publicly without fear of arrest.“It sends a message,” he said, “and that message is...that if you exercise your constitutionally protected rights and you have a point of view that’s unpopular or not in vogue at the present time, that you could be punished.”http://www.citizenlink.org/CLNews/A000005468.cfm
