Tropical Storm Henriette Forms Off Mexico Coast

MEXICO CITY Tropical Storm Henriette formed off Mexico's Pacific coast on Friday and was forecast to move parallel to the mainland, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.A tropical storm warning was issued for a long stretch of Mexico's southern coast from Lagunas de Chacahua on the coast of Oaxaca to the resort city of Manzanillo in the state of Colima. The warning area includes the resort of Acapulco.At 10 a.m. EDT, the center of Henriette was about 85 miles south of Acapulco, with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph, with higher gusts.It was moving northwest at near 10 mph and is expected to continue on the path for the next day, with some strengthening forecast.The storm is forecast to move near and parallel to Mexico's Pacific coast on Friday and is expected to dump 4-8 inches of rain along the southern coast, with flooding and landslides possible.Also Friday, Tropical Storm Gil drifted hundreds of miles off Mexico's Pacific coast with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, the hurricane center said.
