SIGN of the TIMES:Parents urged to get into their children's entertainment world

A media specialist with Focus on the Family says technology has made it tougher for parents to monitor their children'sentertainment choices. For years,Bob Waliszewski-in his role with Focus on the Family's Plugged In magazine-has reviewed the latest CDs,DVDs, and other entertainment targeting children. He says with the popularity of portable music devices such as the iPod,many parents really have no idea what their youngsters are listening to.
Waliszewski says parents should be vigilant, especially when it comes to the music genre known as "gangster rap.""If parents don't know what their kids are downloading to their iPod ... it's time to get into our young person's entertainment world and see what's in their iPod and have a good talk and a discussion,"he asserts.Waliszewski says the only good thing about gangster rap is that sales have plummeted 33 percent over last year.
