Heathrow Climate protesters 'are terrorists'...

TENSIONS at Heathrow's climate camp escalated last night as demonstrators accused police of using heavy-handed tactics by holding protesters and blocking vehicles from entering the site.Police stopped trucks carrying food to the camp and also held several demonstrators under anti-terror laws.The crackdown came as Downing Street sent a stark message to any potential militants, insisting the government would not put up with disruption to the world's busiest airport.
Organisers maintained that they simply wanted to highlight concerns about the impact a third runway would have on the environment.One activist from Edinburgh, who only give his name as Garry,said there was anger at the police use of counter-terrorism legislation to hold demonstrators."To invoke anti-terrorist legislation to stop us from our protest is really inappropriate and irresponsible," the 25-year-old said."This isn't just about people's freedom to fly, this is about people's freedom to live on a planet that has a future."He added that protesters had no plans to target "consumers" but wanted to send a wake-up call to the aviation industry and its plans to profit through airport expansion.Asked whether travellers would experience disruption, he said: "I won't be drawn on action. That will transpire in time."Airport operator BAA won an injunction last week barring protest group Plane Stupid from the airport, but other groups were allowed to demonstrate provided they did not disrupt the airport's operations....
