HONOLULU-Twenty-four Oahu veterinary clinics are offering $5 identity microchips for pets in August, the Hawaiian Humane Society announced on Wednesday. The cost of placing a microchip ID in a pet is normally $25,but the clinics are waiving the cost for the month.A chip can be used to identify a lost pet and help get it back to its owners.Last year, 3,361 pets were reunited with their owners on Oahu because of the ID chip,Humane Society officials said. The chip is the size of a grain of rice and is injected under the skin behind the shoulder blades of cats and dogs.http://www.thehawaiichannel.com/family/13800396/detail.html?treets=hon&tid=2657206147813&tml=hon_8pm&tmi=hon_8pm_1_01000208022007&ts=H
PS:We thought about chipping our dog...we've had several neighbours which dogs were stolen from their yards....But we haven't done it yet.It SEEMS to be CONVENIENT,especially when your pet is a dear possesion,BUT we still have questions.Out local vet keeps suggesting the move, though, with every visit...
As in the days of Noah...
