Another El Al flight with of North American olim (new immigrants) touched down at Ben Gurion International Airport Monday morning. Some 50 new Israeli citizens, brought to you by the Nefesh b’Nefesh (NbN) aliyah organization, were greeted by the cheers of relatives and friends.A much bigger group is set to arrive Tuesday.Three charter flights from the U.S. , Canada and UK will touch down almost simultaneously, landing within half an hour of each other at Ben Gurion International Airport, with hundreds of new English-speaking olim to add to the Jewish melting pot.Two of the flights are coming from opposite sides of the Atlantic; one charter from the UK and one from the US. According to the organization's website, by September 3rd the organization will have brought a total 15 groups from the U.S., Canada and the UK.Former Ambassador to the U.S. Danny Ayalon, who recently joined NBN, said that the organization’s recent inclusion of the UK in its mandate to bring new immigrants to Israel will bring about a significant increase in “anglo” aliyah. “In the five years since NBN was established, it has rejuvenated aliyah and brought over to Israel more than 11,000 immigrants,” noted Ayalon. He also said that NBN has eased the sometimes rocky absorption into the country, reversing a situation in which a large number of olim used to return to their countries of origin after several years of struggling in Israel.
