Watch,Advisories Posted Ahead Of Cosme:Tropical Depression Passing South Of Big Island Early Saturday

HONOLULU-The Big Island of Hawaii is under a flash flood watch until 4 p.m. Saturday.The National Weather Service posted the watch in anticipation of locally heavy rain resulting from Tropical Depression Cosme,which is forecast to pass to the south of the Big Island late Friday night into early Saturday morning.The weather service said the storm could still come close enough to dump 5 to 10 inches of rain,especially for southeast portions of the Big Island.The weather service also issued a wind advisory for the summit areas of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island and Haleakala on Maui until 4 p.m.Saturday.Winds are forecast to increase late Friday to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
