Spiritual Revival Sweeps Northern Thailand

CHIANG MAI, Thailand-Christians say spiritual revival has come to the northern Thailand village of Suplang because of the dedication of Karen tribal children.Not only do they gather to praise and worship God each day, but they also pray for the healing of adults and children.Christians started praying for revival here about 10 years ago, but they say noticeable change only came when 12,000 Karen gathered for a reconciliation camp last year."People started to confess the sins of the village, and commit the village to the Lord,” Sydney Jariyaphruttipong, a Thai pastor, said. “Eighty families, out of 85 are Christians. People confess their sins openly.Children start to see visions of heaven.There's a clear change in their lives"Victor Lerdprakun of Eternal Blessing Church is an active youth leader of the Karen tribe.He says the Christian revival has transformed his village."My forefathers used to be engaged in witchcraft and magic to hurt people and even cure,” Lerdprakun said.“They call on evil spirits to kill other people until he knew of God's love.He knew that God's power is powerful than any power.Now, people love God so much, they pray a lot and worship a lot."Young Filipino members of a Christian youth movement known as Jesus Revolution are visiting Thailand, praying the Karen revival will spread.On its third year in Chiang Mai, the Jesus Revolution continues to share the passion and revival among the youth, bringing in more and more people closer to God, believing and praying that healing and total transformation will take place in Thailand."We want the Thai people to join in prayer, in crying out, believing that God will change this nation,” Charlie Carino, executive board member with Jesus Revolution, said. “Our dream is to see this nation become a Christian nation. So we want to dream with them,encourage them, affirm them. We are here to work with them, to pray with them."But spiritual revival has also come to the Jesus Revolution participants.One team leader is hoping the young Filipinos will take the transforming power of the Spirit back to the Philippines."As we carry that fire that they have, I believe as we combine those two anointing, true transformation will come,”Rommel Agustin, a student pastor, said. “The kind of anointing that only comes from God."It is a divine touch they pray will stir a revival that will not only bless Thailand and the Philippines,but also the world.
