The world was shocked to discover that the eight terrorists taken into custody following two botched bombing attempts and an attack on the Glasgow airport were all medical professionals,six of them doctors.Even Muslim doctors take an Islamic version of the Hippocratic Oath. In the Islamic version, doctors swear before Allah to devote their lives to serving mankind: "poor or rich, literate or illiterate, Muslim or non-Muslim, black or white with patience and tolerance, with virtue and reverence, with knowledge and vigilance." The revelation that six of eight terrorists swore that oath before Allah and then participated in an effort to kill innocent people in Allah's name should send a chill through us all. Physicians hold a special status, not just in Western society, but within Islam itself. Muhammad himself is said to have held them in great respect. For six doctors to conspire together to commit terrorism is shockingly revealing of the extent of Islamic evil. These are not ignorant men, easily swayed by skillful propagandists preaching Islamic extremism. By definition, doctors are analytical thinkers who carefully weigh every argument and, after careful analysis, proceed by doing what they believe is right. Several months before the UK attacks, a British clergyman in Iraq was warned by a terrorist, "Those who cure you will kill you." The warning was delivered to Canon Andrew White by a man he met in Jordan who claimed to be an al-Qaida leader, according to the London Times. The paper reported, "The man, who was in his 40s and had traveled from Syria for the meeting, said that the plans would come to fruition in the next few weeks and target the British first. He said that the British and Americans were being targeted because of their actions in Iraq." White refused to disclose the alleged terrorist's identity, but his story seems a lot more credible now than it did a week ago. So does a story in the UK Telegraph about three Islamic terrorists on trial for operating a jihadist chat room. Police discovered a message dated Feb. 12, 2005, that read: "We are 45 doctors, and we are determined to undertake jihad and take the battle inside America." This revelation is especially chilling. There is probably nobody more trusted in Western society than a doctor. One of the very last persons someone would suspect of terrorism would be a doctor. Foreign-born doctors are highly sought after to help fill the shortage of doctors in the West. They undergo less scrutiny at ports of entry than other professions. Nobody watches doctors to see if they are really secretly depraved killers. By definition, they are healers. We don't think of them in any other way.We trust doctors like no other profession. Who else would you allow to render you unconscious for the express purpose of letting him cut into you with a knife? That six Islamic doctors conspired to murder innocents is more revealing of the true nature of radical Islam than the 19 hijackers who killed 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11. This destroys the liberal myth that Muslims become terrorist because of lack of economic opportunities and feelings of social rejection by their host Western countries. Muslims become jihadists and terrorists through a "religious choice" to take literally the over 100 verses in the Quran that exhort them to force the infidels to either submit to Islam or to kill or put into slavery those who refuse. Let us not forget that some of the most ruthless Muslim terrorists are doctors and men of wealth, privilege and advanced educational degrees. The vicious terrorist organization Popular Front for Liberating Palestinian was founded by Dr. George Habash, a physician from Lod, Palestine. The co-founder of al-Qaida is Amin al-Zawahiri, a surgeon from Egypt. Many believe he is more dangerous than Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden is from a wealthy and privileged Saudi family and has advanced degrees. Many other examples could be given, but the point is we need to realize that Islam can radicalize anyone who becomes a serious follower of the Quran and the example of Muhammad. It is not a religion of peace and tolerance. History proves that it has been a religion of violence and war from its beginning.
