Evangelist Reaches Thousands in Venezuela

One of the Church of God Delmarva-DC region's state evangelists,Bishop Joel Hitchcock, recently reported on a ministry outreach to Venezuela earlier this summer.A total of 17 services were held, attracting a combined attendance of approximately 35,000 people.According to Hitchcock, the smallest services were held among Native American Venezuelans, where the population was "stunned" according to Hitchcock,by the many instantaneous miracles of the blind, the deaf and other sick folk being instantly healed after prayer. The peak attendance was in the city of Tucupita where more than 10,000 people attended a single service.Brother Joel reports that to his best count 22,064 souls made a decision for Christ. He concedes however that although many decisions were first time salvations, many were also repeats or rededications."Only God knows the true number" he says. This was the first time ever that this city had experienced a city-ide crusade?much like another city, where Brother Joel ministered in 2003. At that crusade the mayor made a decision for Christ, and still remains faithful to that decision after four years. He is now the governor of the state and is accountable directly to President Chavez.Hitchcock has held many such crusades in Africa,India and Pakistan, and hopes to eventually win one million souls to Christ each year.He is also holding his first open air mass crusade in the United States this summer.
