END TIMES WEATHER:New rain record set in wetter, warmer UK

LONDON-Britain is becoming wetter and warmer with record rainfall in June and temperatures above the long-term average, the Met Office said on Thursday."There is an expectation of heavier extreme rainfall events in most places as climate warms and the atmosphere becomes moister," the Met Office said in a statement.Average rainfall in Britain in June was 134.5 mm, the highest total since records began in 1914.The average temperature in June was 13.7 C, above the long-term average of 12.6 C."The higher than normal mean UK temperature for June follows a trend that has become a regular feature over recent months.The last time mean UK temperatures were below average was in March 2006," the Met Office added.
