CULTURE of DEATH:Doctor is cleared of "mercy killings"

IT HAD been hanging over him for two years, one of the most heinous accusations any doctor can face. But yesterday, Dr Michael Munro was dramatically cleared of the mercy killing of two terminally ill babies in his care.A disciplinary panel of the health watchdog the General Medical Council ruled that it was "undisputed" that Dr Munro's decision to inject the two premature babies with massive doses of a paralysing drug "was to relieve suffering rather than to hasten death".The panel also ruled that the 41-year-old Scottish consultant and father of three had acted with the best of intentions to relieve the perceived distress of both babies. The case has divided opinion within the medical profession on whether new legislation is needed to deal with those cases where doctors alleviate suffering, but with the consequence of bringing forward death.Despite being cleared of claims that his actions had been "tantamount to euthanasia",Dr Munro's career still hangs in the balance. The consultant neonatologist at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital was found guilty of misleading a senior colleague about his previous use of the drug he gave the babies,a muscle relaxant called pancuronium. He has also admitted that his conduct in relation to administering the drug to both babies was "outside the accepted professional practice in the field".The GMC panel will resume its deliberations in Manchester today to decide whether his actions have impaired his fitness to practise. He still faces the prospect of being struck off the medical register.NHS Grampian, in consultation with the procurator-fiscal, has carried out an investigation into the deaths of both babies, but no action was taken and it was later confirmed there would be no criminal
proceedings. One of Dr Munro's colleagues told The Scotsman: "This case has split the medical fraternity in Aberdeen into two distinct camps, those who fully support his actions and those who feel that what he did was completely wrong and unethical."He is certainly not a consultant who has the full support of all his colleagues. As I understand it, it was some of his own who raised their concerns about his actions in the first place."Dr Munro, a graduate of Aberdeen University, has been a consultant at the maternity hospital for the past seven years. He is married to Alexandra, and they have three children,a boy of 12 and two daughters aged ten and eight, all of whom were born at his hospital. As a neonatologist he specialises in treating premature infants. The consultant had originally been accused of giving each baby 23 times the normal dose of pancuronium in an act that was "tantamount to euthanasia". He was also accused of failing to record his actions in the medical notes of either child and of concealing his use of the drug during an investigation after colleagues raised concerns with health authorities.

PS:Well...to the reader of this blog that wrote me calling this "doctor" a hero, you must be cheering now. Those of us who believe in a God of Love, the Only giver of Life, this is horrendous. He has children of his own...I wonder how does he choose children to live or die,I wonder if one of his kids gets terminally ill...is he gonna give them a shot,to "stop their suffering"?Is he gonna do the same with his wife in the same situation? The saddest part of this story is the blurred judgement of the "disciplinary panel a.k.a.General Medical Council"considering this cheap murderer's actions to(quote)"undisputed""to relieve the suffering rather than to hasten death"(unquote)ARE YA'LL KIDDING ME????Anybody in the medical profession knows what pancuronium is all about and when it should be administered!!!!23 times the indicated dose???GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!This guy is a shame for the medical profession. The General Medical Council is a shame too...I feel for the poor doctors that are for life and have to be "under" the eye of a medical council like that.No morals,no ethics.no nothing.
If you that are reading live in Scotland and happen to have your children seen by this guy or any of his colleagues that think he's a HERO...if I was you,I would look for a different doctor!.Picture the guy is a neonatologist treating PREMATURE BABIES!!!!What a FIRST CLASS TREATMENT!!!!The guy thinks he is God!!!!!Well in reality he is a Moloc worshipper...That's how far Scotland is falling...One more step backwards regarding life...
As in the days of Noah...
