A prominent global-warming skeptic is advising people not to take seriously the message behind former Vice President Al Gore's Live Earth concerts. He says Gore's "concert for a climate in crisis" is promoting junk science.Steven Milloy, the publisher of JunkScience.com and a columnist for FoxNews.com, says the Live Earth event is built on a phony premise."When was the perfect climate?" Milloy asks."Al Gore seems to think that we've already had the perfect climate, and now we're going into God-knows-what."You know, there really is no evidence that humans are harming global climate," he continues."This is really a personal crusade by Al Gore that he's using to resurrect himself."Milloy contends that Gore's proposals to fight global warming would have a devastating economical effect on the world."As far as developed countries go, I think it's the most murderous thing you can ask people to do," he explains."One of the major problems in developing countries is a lack of energy, and the only energy source that they're going to get anytime soon is going to be coal, oil, or gas-I mean, they need the electricity," says the journalist."They're not going to building nuclear power plants in developing countries; they simply can't afford it."And asking developing countries to rely on solar or wind power is "crazy," Milloy adds "We don't even like doing that," he points out.Milloy says the reason global-warming hysteria has reached the "high-pitched level" it is at is not because Mr. Gore is particularly convincing, but rather because large businesses-including Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley-are trying to profit from higher energy prices. The Live Earth concerts are being promoted and broadcast in the U.S. by NBC, Telemundo, the Sundance Channel, Bravo, MSNBC, and Universal HD.
