Converted Christian Reporter Seen as "Gatekeeper to a Crucial Constituency" in Upcoming Elections

(Washington, DC)-The New York Times has taken notice of David Brody, a political reporter for Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and the owner of the blog, the Brody File. According to the NYT report, with its blend of reporting, jokey commentary and savvy explanations of the concerns of Christian voters, his blog draws almost 100,000 hits a month."I just pray for all of us, reporters, photographers and editors," said David Brody after a recent meeting, where he bowed his head in prayer with other reporters. "Give us the strength to get through the day. Bless our work, Lord. Give us the right words to say."Reporter Michael Luo notes that Brody grew up in New York City in a Reformed Jewish household, but it was he when was dating his future wife in college that, "she started to talk to me about this Jesus character."After marrying in 1988, Brody gave his life to Jesus at a prayer meeting.The couple married in 1988 and moved to Colorado. Mr. Brody said that at a prayer meeting he made the decision to give his life to "Yeshua," as he puts it, using the Hebrew name for Jesus, and become a Christian.As the 2008 presidential elections loom ever closer, Luo notes that Mr. Brody occupies a position of influence as a gatekeeper to a crucial constituency.
