Only two days ago I wrote on the topic of how Isaiah's prophecy of the destruction of Damascus may be on the verge of fulfillment but I feel I must revisit the issue yet again, in light of a World Tribune article brought to my attention by a reader of my site. The headline of the story shows just how close we may be to the end of Damascus'reign as the world's longestcontinually, inhabited city:
"Hundreds of Syrian missiles poised for possible first strike against Israel"
The article opens as follows:
Despite appeals by United States,Syria has maintained its forward ballistic missile positions near Israel.Israeli military sources said the Syrian military has positioned its Scud C and Scud D ballistic missile batteries in southern Syria. The sources said the missile batteries have maintained full combat readiness and could be launched at any time. The sources said the Syrian missiles, including the SS-21, could reach virtually any part of the Jewish state. The article indicates that, on July 24th, high-ranking members of the Israeli government were advised that Syria's heightened state of readiness may indicate that Syria is actively preparing to make a first strike on Israel. The article further states that Israel is doing everything within its power to lower tensions but Syria is not responding. It is for this reason that I believe we may be at the very brink of Damascus' destruction as prophesied by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 17:1:
"The burden of Damascus.Behold,Damascus is atken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap"
If this is the appointed season when that horrific event is going to take place, I pray that all those in Damascus who are receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ will be led out of harm's way by the Lord and that God will bestow His mercy upon all who are worthy of avoiding that terrible day which we know is to come.Even so Father, may thy will be done upon the earth as it is in heaven!
Maranatha!
